Christman Surprise
We had a wonderful surprise Friday. Karen,Bob,Lauren, Megan & Kate were outside singing carols and we almost fell over when we saw them. That was the start of a whirl wind visit. Everyone helped us in one way or other. Bob fixed my faucet in the kitchen which has not been right since we moved in, It is perfect now and I love it. He fixed my dryer vent, put up my new garage door opener pad,got my bird feeders to stand up straight, fixed the arm on Gramps Jazzy etc etc Karen cut grandpa's hair(well all of them) cleaned all the cradle cap off and massaged his head. He looks like a new man--lucky me!!! Now if she could fix a few other things I would be all set. I got this new thing to see people on the computer but have not got on it myself yet. It looked easy when they did it but I am having trouble understanding it yet. Lauren vacuumed my rugs and hit me with a empty( thank heaven)water bottle right between the eyes, WOW I was seeing *****stars for a while as it was a shock for such a sweet child to harm her Grams. All is forgiven and we went on playing our game of dominoes. Megan helped put my pictures from my camera into the computer and more tech things plus a wiz on the Nintendo game. Kate helped do dishes and fix meals etc., plus make sure she gets the Nintendo game when I pass on!!!You have a long wait Kate because I don't plan on going anywhere sooooon.Love ya special. We got wonderful gifts and lots of memories. Chris made sure of that as he had made dvd's of Ashley & Rob's wedding for us. We also watched movies of the past that were funny and yet sad as we have all changed so much some for the better and some for the worse. All in all we had a wonderful time and we were so happy to see them and get to kiss Lauren one more time before she leaves for Bolivia. Thanks for making our Christmas so special.

Surprise visit from Bob & Karen
I was out shopping Thursday with Dad & Sue in Crown Point and came home 3hrs later and pulled up to put my groceries away when this truck pulled up in the next door driveway. I looked at Sue (who was in on it)and said do you know these people???? She said YES I DO!! I thought someone saw her and pulled in to talk to her. Still not aware of who it was Bob got out and I still did not know who it was. Soon Karen jumped out the other side and I saw that RED hair and my brain came too and I yelled Karen-DUH-- I was surprised all right but they have to remember I'm getting old and can't take these surprises. By the way Gramps got stuck in the door coming out of the store and I was already at the car with the carry out kid so Sue had to go back and help him. I think that's why I didn't have my brain in gear!!!
We had a lot of company while they were here as Bridget was coming Friday for the day and Patty came Sat. It was great and lot of laughs and busy things happening. I had an accident with Gramps urine bag by the bed in the bedroom and the girls all worked on that rug and got it cleaned up. Bob was busy fixing everything else plus 3 or 4 trips to the ACE Hardware store in town. I have a flag hung up now, a table in the dinning room that doesn't come a part,a clean garage, the outside winterized and ready for the big freeze, windows that actually open easy, and many more little things. Karen got the fireplace lit for the winter and it works fine now after a long time of trying to find the instruction book. I still can't work the remote on it right but I have plenty of time for that later. Thanks to all, and I can't wait until the next visit and more talking and fun. Taking Gramps to the Doctors tomorrow for a PT check and test and then for an MRI. It's suppose to be cold so it should be a hard day for us as we still like our FL weather .

Vist with Grandchildren &Greats
Had a wonderful visit with Jen,Kate,Owen,Gavin,& Quin. They came at about 7:30 pm and were very tired as they were fighting traffic all the way here. They were like a breeze of cool air as I can talk to someone that answers and keep me company. The kids were good and Quin helped me a lot with Grandpa. She is going to be a very compassionate person and didn't blink a eye at all of Gramps apparatus's. We had a great visit with the Tom Vandermeers even though Tom and Jennifer(Maurer) beat me and Gramps and the game. I won the bowling WII game and was really glad to win something. Tom made us a good lunch of barbecued chicken and it was great. Went to a pizza place after church with all and had left overs to go. The girls helped me so much as Kate vacuumed my rugs and helped with the kids. They turned my mattress and put on the electric mattress cover for the cold nights.Jen did a act of LOVE and gave Gramps a pedicure as his nails were long. I think he is spoiled and will want that again as he said it felt soooo good. We had Sunday dinner and they were gone but not before they washed all the sheets and left me with nothing to do but miss them.

Colonoscopy OVER!!!!
On the day before my colonoscopyI began preparation . I did'nt eat any solid food--all day. I had chick broth(no fat) that tasted like water with less flavor . Took my med's and drank 32 gallons of prep and it tasted like goat spit(I think) with a hint of lemon. They said I would have loose bowels so I stayed close to the toilet. That was like telling me if I jump off the roof I might hi the ground. I sat on the toilet sooooo long I felt like I needed a seat belt. When I thought there could not be anything left I had to drink more of that wonderful lemon stuff again. I started getting rid of food that I havent even eaten yet. After a action packed day and evening I finally got to sleep. Bridget came at the crack of dawn and we headed to the clinic.I was very nervous,at the clinic as I had to sign so many forms out that I thought I was going to die on the spot. Next came the dressing gown. Why they call it a gown I have no idea as I felt more naked then I did naked! The nurse put a needle in my arm and I thought I would faint but I was already laying down. When they wheeled me into th procedure room I looked all over for the 17,0000000 foot tube they would use but they kept it hidden. They said do not close your eyes as the music was playing "Close To You" and before I knew it they were waking me up and asking me how I felt??? I was feeling just fine because it was all over and I had passed the test with flying colores.

Our 60th Wedding Anniversary
we had a wonderful day with everyone at the anniversary picnic. After two kisses Chuck says thats ENOUGH!! I guess he has changed a lot after 60 years as he never use to get enough. We were really surprised when Brooke & Kate came and surprised us as we thought they had to work. My old girlfriends from grade school were there and gave us all the credit for the wonderful family we started--and its not finished yet. Kevin and Ryan stayed at our house and we really enjoyed it as we never get to see them. Chris,Taylor, and Devon slept in the living room and Karen & Bob had the guest room it was really a great time being with everyone. Talking to everyone was a real treat for me as Chuck does not talk to much any more and I get tired of listening to myself(well not really) Thanks to GOD for having us live this long and to be blessed with our children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren, good friends and relatives. Thank You everyone we love you all.

They got me!!!
We went to look at Jazzy's(electric Wheel Chair's) for Chuck with Sue Pat & Bill.We found one we like and plan on getting it after we get 3 prescriptions and a evaluation from a therapist. On our way to Pat's after shopping they stopped at a medical building and Pat asked me to go in with her. It just so happened that it was for her and me to make appointments for a COLONSCOPY!!!! They got me after 77 years of never having one. Pat is going the same day as me and the same time to make sure I go. We have different Drs of course because it is the same time also. I'm not looking forward to this of course and am glad it is in July and after my 60th picnic party. They have been trying to get me to do this for years and now they got me. Hope to look better than this after its over!!!

A DAY IN TOWN
Chuck and I started out for Sams to do some big shopping. We got a lot done and started for the check out when I saw some Killians Irish Red beer. Chuck isn't as fond of it as I but conceded and I picked up a pack. We were checking out and the clerk said that we had to but two 12 bottle packs to get the price we wanted so I said just leave it there. We got to the car and I put everything into the trunk. Chuck was getting into the car and told me to run back in and get the two pack of beer. I rode his handicap cart back into the store and got two packs of the Irish beer. All of a sudden OVER THE LOUD SPEAKERS I heard BONNIE LAUERMAN COME TO THE SERVICE DESK. I drove over to the desk with my Irish beer in the basket and some frantic woman says your husband fell out of your car in the parking lot. She said he was fine and that they put him back into the car, but she thought he should go to the hospital and get checked out. I knew he does this a lot and that he was back in the car safe so went to the check out again. I was next to getting checked ou when over the loud speakers again came BONNIE LAUERMAN come to the service desk. I was not about to give up my place to get checked out with my Irish beer so checked out and then went to the service desk. They wanted me to go to my car immediately as they were waiting for me. I go out finally and here around my car are big wigs from Sams talking to Chuck. They stayed with him as they were worried about getting sued I think . Here I come in my handicaped vehicle with two big cases of Irish beer and and I suppose they thought--------well I don't know what they thought. I guess they don't know I do not get out MUCH!!!!! When they deceided we were OK they let me go. Well that was my big day out and I wish I did have a picture of that..

Ready to go again
It has been a while since I last had anything on the blog. I couldn't get on for a long time as it coming up with Karen,my daughter's name-- no one could fix it and then our computer got a virus. Matthew(grandson) tried to fix it but said it was to big and we had to take it in. $120.00 later we got it back and hope they got them all out as they said. Chuck has been slowing done and does'nt get around as well with his walker. Pat is trying to get him a Jazzy ,riding chair so we can go for walks outside and around the house easier. It will probably take some time to go through all the mediacare and insurance papers.

Saterday Tom and family came and brought pizza's for lunch so we had that and some fun with domino's. I forgot to say that Meg & Matt slept on the air mattress hide a bed in the guest room and for some reason it deflated while using it.What a Man!!!! We will be getting a new bladder for it and hope our next guest will keep this in mind!!! We had a nice dinner here Tuesday with Pat,Bill, Dennis, and Fran. We had a Chinese menu,Wonton soup, egg rolls, and stie fry chicken and vegtables. It was a success and the fortune cookies with sherbert gave us a few laughs. FUN FUN FUN
After our chores Sat. we decided to get a video so I drove into town and got a video at "movie madness". Got home and put it in and we waited ---and waited -- and nothing happened. Got up and discovered it would not play. The door to the CD player would not open and the on off button didn't work either. It ate the CD!!! Chuck said lets take off the cover and take out the CD soooooo 20 screws and two hrs later the lid was off. We plugged in the thing and it started to run soooooo we put the thing together (2 hrs more and 20 screws later) we sat down to watch the movie. Do not get this film it was the PITS!!! (Lions for LAMBS) The day was not done with me yet because when I was brushing my teeth before bed I dropped my one tooth partial down the drain. I shut the water off right away as to save my tooth. Now I figure it is in the trap right??? What do I know about plumbing--well I tried and got everything loose but couldn't take the trap off. Needless to say I went to bed toothless!!! Called my daughter in the morning and told her of my dilemma and her and her husband Fred came over ans saved my tooth. I served them breakfast(the least I could do) for there help. I'm smiling now with my tooth and the smell of sewer gas lingering in my bathroom.

Just another day in our life
at our age we are lucky to wake up!!!! We went shopping in Lowell today and I did'nt think I would be glad to be grocery shopping. Chuck is driving the riding cart all over the store and I can always find him as some of the displays are knocked over and the people are cleaning up. Just another day in our life. We are having a big chinese dinner here soon so I am making Won Ton soup and egg rolls. I am having a hard time getting all the stuff as I live in DEMOTTE!!!!! People here are not as smart as in Fla. as they haven't got a clue as to what I want. We had 60 degrees today and I'm starting to think that is nice out..

Brooke and Jay Visit De Motte
Brooke and Jay visited DeMotte today and we celebrated with margaritas and stroganoff.
We had a great visit with Jay & Brooke. I got to have a margarita with her and I forgot how goooood they are!!!! Jay washed my patio glass windows for me inside and out, which was so nice of him. He asked me what he could do and so I told him, bet he won't ask me that again ha ha. We played "99" (a game) and we let Jay & Brooke win as they were our guest and it was the right thing to do. They felt right at home as we have a lake right behind us and maybe next time they come they can water ski. Snow is all gone now so we are looking forward to summer and fishing and swimming.
